DD-214 FORMS ARE NOW ONLINE
Veterans can now gain access to their DD-214 forms
online, thanks to the National Personnel Records Center
(NPRC) Web site. Such easy access will certainly help
out veterans who need the form quickly for a job
application, or American Legion membership. NPRC is also
working to make it easier to obtain copies of other
documents from military files via the Internet.
Veterans and the next of kin of deceased former
service members may now use a new online
military-personnel records system to request documents.
Other individuals who need documents must still complete
the Standard Form 180, which can be downloaded from the
Web site. Because requesters are asked to supply
essential information to the NPRC for processing, delays
that normally occur will be minimized by the online
service.
The new Web-based application was designed to provide
better service for such requests by eliminating the
records center's mail room and processing time.
