I want to wish all our Legion Family a very Happy
and Healthy New Year. There was no newsletter last
month as things get jammed up and it becomes difficult
to get everything done that you would like. At the
close of 2011 it has not been a good year for our
membership. We have lost a few good members this
past year. Please remember then with good thoughts.
I look forward to this next year with high hopes
that we will be as in the past the best Post in
Broward County.
I have accepted the resignation of our Sergeant-at-Arms,
Jack Sherouse. As is my duty I have appointed D.R.
Richards to fill the office and it was approved
by the Executive Board. D.R. will continue until
the next election of officers. I want to thank Jack
for his outstanding service to the Honor Guard.
Jack will continue to be a member of the Honor Guard.
Jack, a job well done.
This leads me to invite any of our younger members
who wish to join the Honor Guard to come to an Honor
Guard meeting and find out what it is all about.
There is no cost to be a member.
Our committees have been active. The Post has again
become the Charter Organization for Boy Scout Troop
836 and Cub Scout Pack 222 for the coming year.
The Boy Scouts will be doing lunch on January 14th.
Please come out and support our Scouts.
We have contacted some of the schools requesting
nominations for the Boys State Program. We will
again send four boys to Tallahassee to be a government
for a week in July. There is no cost to the boys
as we pay the administration cost and transportation.
Thank you members as your dues support this premier
leadership program.
A thank you to Paul Allaire and Ed Prusinski for
the excellent dinner at our New Year's Eve Party.
A good time was had by all.
For God and Country,
Peter O. Nepa,
Commander
