“The Silent Table”
We have an
obligation to remember our friends and comrades who did
not make it home from their captivity. Anytime we think
about former prisoners of war we must remember the
contributions of all of them.
To honor
their memories, we envision something that is described
as “The Silent Table.” Imagine if you will, a lone table
set for one. The table is small symbolizing the frailty
of the one prisoner alone against his oppressors.
The chair
is empty because they are not with us, and it also
represents the still empty chairs in thousands of homes
all across America that have been empty for years.
The table
cloth is white symbolizing the purity and the
selflessness of their response to their country’s call
to duty.
